Welcome to Charles River Rowing!

Join us for an unforgettable experience at our Summer 2025 programs; where you will have the opportunity to participate in on-water rowing sessions across a range of boat classes. Our expert coaches will focus on enhancing your individual stroke technique using the Peach system, RP3, video review, and on-water feedback. In addition to rowing, our camps include strength sessions with a Harvard S&C coach and specialized coxswain coaching with a dedicated coxswain coach for comprehensive skill development. We are excited to welcome you to Newell Boathouse for a summer filled with improvement!

  • Learn the nuance of moving a boat on the Charles - how to hold the handle, sequence the recovery, and connect to the water will be a few of many topics covered by the coaching staff.

  • Not familiar with the Peach system? This telemetry system is used for advanced date collection throughout sessions. Athletes will learn more about this information through a biomechanics talk, and receive a print out of their individual stroke profile at camp; including the force curve, slip/wash numbers, and drive to recovery speed.

  • Work with Harvard strength and conditioning coaches to learn correct movement patterns, planes of movement, and specific rowing conditioning that will improve your strength!

  • Enjoy presentations and hands-on learning from a dedicated coxswain coach in addition to Pat and Tom - this will be a great way to get more comfortable in the seat! We have had a number of former decorated coxswains come through to coach this group!

  • Day 1: 12-4pm - Check In, Introduction, Erg Session, First Row

Day 2: 9-4pm - Two Rows, Strength Training, Peach Review

Day 3: 9-4pm - Two Rows, Peach and Video Review, Strength Training

    Day 4: 9-12pm - Row, Closing Remarks

  • This clinic will focus on master's athletes looking to improve their sculling for HOCR and other Fall racing! Bring your own single to Newell boathouse to optimize rigging, or use one of our many small boat options for camp. We will spend time both on water and on land; leveraging the RP3's, video review, and in-person coaching to make technical changes. This clinic schedule will run as follows:

Saturday: 9am-12pm (land then water sessions), break for lunch, row 1:30-3:00pm. Dinner with the coaches that evening at 6pm! (Cost of dinner not included)

Sunday: 9am-12pm (land then water session, clinic wrap up)

  • We offer full refunds if requested one month prior to the camp start date. After that one month deadline, we reserve the right to hold onto the camp payment, but often can refund if we can bring in an additional athlete off of the waitlist.

  • We require at least one year of rowing experience to attend our junior camps. Generally, our elite camp is athletes that have rowed and competed for 2-3 years, and are looking to be recruited to row in college. For the adult sculling camps, we ask that participants can manage a single on a river, and can row over 6k per session.

  • Our clinics run out of Newell Boathouse. You can find us at 801 Soldiers Field Rd, Boston, Massachusetts 02134.
